History: The Montana Council on Homelessness (MTCoH) was originally formed by Executive Order in June 2004 to take an overarching look at the issues playing into homelessness in Montana. The Council's goal was to identify systems gaps and obstacles, and to begin creating the mechanisms and infrastructure needed to address those obstacles at a policy level. Council members come from the public, private and business sectors as well as state and federal agencies.

MTCoH 2007 - 2008: In honor of the homeless persons who died in Montana in 2006, on December 21, 2006, Governor Brian Schweitzer issued Executive Order #40-006, renewing the Montana Council on Homelessness. The first business of the new council will be to review, revise, adopt and begin to implement the plan created by the 2004 - 2006 Council members. The new Council will be appointed by Governor Brian Schweitzer. The announcments of their names is pending.
